Dr. Ian Abraham is a Senior Lecturer (approx. an Associate Prof. in US) in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Sydney. He is also the director of the Computational Methods for Curious Robots Lab that is situated across Yale University and the University of Sydney.
Dr. Ian Abraham expertise spans robotics, optimi(z)sation, control, AI, and machine learning. Before joining the University of Sydney, he was an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science Departments at Yale University, following a Postdoctoral Scholar position at the Robotics Institute, Carnegie Mellon University. He received his PhD from Northwestern University. His teaching focuses on robotics, learning and control, while his research develops computational methods that enable robotic systems to intelligently interact with their environment and with other robots, particularly in extreme and remote settings. He has been recogni(z)sed with several prestigious awards, including an NSF CAREER award.
